About this course

with
GCSE grade B in Music and confident keyboard skills. Some experience of music software, e.g. Cubase/Logic/Reason, would be beneficial. If GCSE Music is not studied, students with grade five Theory of Music will be considered. All applicants will have a keyboard skills assessment as part of their interview.

Music Technology is a creative and innovative subject which arms the student with the skills needed to arrange, compose, produce and record music. Students will gain an understanding of a wide range of popular musical styles, and will learn how to use technology successfully in the field of contemporary popular music.

· AS classroom/resource area with 16 networked PCs. Each has a high quality sound module, controller keyboard, Cubase SX & Sibelius software. Data projector and CD recording facilities also available.
· A2 classroom/resource area with 16 audio/midi PCs, mixer, sound module, controller keyboard, Cubase SX, Soundforge and Reason software.
· AS recording studio with Pro-Tools/Project Mix system, microphones and studio monitors.
· A2 recording studio with Pro-Tools/Tascam DM3200 system, valve pre-amp, Pod Pro XT, microphones and tie-lines to live room, recital room and amp booth.
· Recording booth in A2 classroom with valve channel strip.
