About this course

You will need five GCSEs A*-C and be requested attend an interview. You will demonstrate your competence with a portfolio of work and undertake a summer project.

What will I be learning?

This is mainly a practical course.
Your initial focus will be on gaining in confidence while developing your drawing, colour skills and your understanding of art and design concepts. After half-term, you will get a chance to explore creative opportunities, which have been brought about by a broad range of 2D and 3D workshop areas, which include drawing, colour, print, photography, graphic design, fashion, textiles, 3D design, ceramics and contextual studies.

How will I learn?

You will work on a range of projects towards three major assessment exhibitions in December, March and June.

There will also be a range of critiques and presentations each term.

What else might I want to know?

You will have the opportunity to learn from a comprehensive programme of specialist visiting practitioners. You will be invited to participate in our two day visit in October to specialist galleries in London.
You will also get a chance to take a part in cultural visits abroad.

What can I do afterwards?

This developmental course is recognised as an A level equivalent.

If you achieve at least a merit grade, you will be able to progress to Foundation Studies in Art & Design, subject to a successful interview and completion of summer project.
