What will I be learning?
The BTEC National Certificate is equivalent to two A levels and will be studied on a full time basis. It will encourages and stimulate your achievement through innovative learning and assessment styles, by focusing on the applied knowledge and understanding required by Media Industries. The BTEC National Certificate consists of 12 units of study and provides for a specialism in your chosen vocational areas.

How will I learn?
In each unit you will be given assignments designed to achieve clear learning outcomes which will then be graded at Pass, Merit and Distinction level. Work is applied to specific work related situations or activities, often with opportunities for teamwork and in-depth study. Later in the course you will have a Final Major Project to pull together which confirms your knowledge and understanding across the programme.
The lessons are a mixture of taught classes, presentations, demonstrations and workshops. Drawing skills are important and will be taught in separate lessons
What else might I want to know?
Students may be required to provide or purchase some media storage materials. The Media Section offers a variety of voluntary trips, residentials and visits to media companies and screenings.
What can I do afterwards?
The BTEC National Certificate prepares students for direct entry into employment or for progression to Higher Education at Universities or at South Devon College. After successful completion of the course students may choose to specialise on further courses in areas as varied as web design, game design,dvd authoring,video editing, interactive computer design, graphic design. Specialist career advice in the media will be provided.
