NC Health & Social Care (Full time)

Aims:
This course is designed to offer candidates the skills and
qualifications to enable them to progress to further training
and education or to seek employment within the social
services area. This course is offered at 3 levels.

Duration:
1 Year Full-time August to June.

Content:
. Families in Modern Society
. First Aid
. Mental Health Issues - an Introduction
. Psychology for Care
. Safety in Care Environment
. Sociology for Care
. Understanding Needs of Older Adults
. Values and Principles for Care
Some units can be offered at Higher level with the agreement of the tutor and dependent on the needs of the course / student.

Articulation:
Successful students may apply to HNC Social Care, HNC Health
Care, HNC Counselling or HNC Working with Communities at Anniesland College.

Careers:
Successful students may pursue a career in Social / Health related
posts at support worker level within residentail care and day care facilities for a variety fo service user groups.

Requirement
. The NC can be offered at three levels to meet the academic achievements of candidates: Intermediate 1 level - Five Standard Grades at grade 4-6 Intermediate 2 level - Five Standard Grades at grade 3 and above Highe level - Five Standard Grades at grade 2 and above . Voluntary and / or employment experience in the care sector will also be considered. . All those who meet the entry requirements will be invited for interview. . Mature students may be admitted without formal qualifications.
