NVQ 2 Performing Engineering Operations (Electrical Route)

Course Details

The course has the following units: - Working safely in an Engineering Environment - Working Efficiently and Effectively in Engineering - Using and Communicating Technical Information - Assembling Electrical Wiring Support Systems - Wiring and Testing Electrical Equipment and Circuits - Maintaining Electrical Equipment/Systems - Forming and Assembling Electrical Cable Enclosure and Support Systems Learners will also work towards/complete a Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy qualification. Assessment: Each Unit of study e.g. Testing Electrical Circuits, contains a list of tasks or competencies that have to be successfully completed to the required standard. These tasks can be assessed in a number of different ways such as being observed by a qualified assessor or checked via relevant written work in a logbook. You shall complete a substantial portfolio of evidence of work during the course that will consist of practical exercises, logbook entries, photographic evidence etc. Once the required number of Units has been successfully achieved you will be awarded an NVQ at Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations.

You will need to be at least 16 years of age and interested in a career in engineering or manufacturing. The course is ideally suited to those wishing to pursue an apprenticeship at craft or technician level. Learners will need to have achieved an NVQ Level 1 Performing Engineering Operations. Mature learners will be favourably considered and may gain entry by accreditation of previous learning and experience.All candidates must supply evidence that they have undertaken a colour blindness test and that they are absent of colour deficiency. The Ishihara colour test can be arranged with any optician.

Learners will require to purchase safety boots, overalls and general stationery items prior to commencement of the course.

Progression:
Progress onto the City and Guilds 2330 full time/part time courses or alternatively progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering.

9am - 4.30pm

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
