Performing Arts BTEC First Diploma
This is a practical course which will allow you to build up your own performance skills and find out about working practices and employment opportunities in the Performing Arts.

Classes will take place in a specialist performance space, and you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.

What will I study?
You will take part in practical workshops and learn about devising and staging productions. Performance is obviously an important part of the course, and you will work in groups to develop your ideas.

You will take 1 specialist unit:

• Production Project

And 3 further specialist units from the following list:

• The Performing Arts Business
• Devising Plays
• Performing Plays
• Body Workshop
• Acting
• Musical Theatre

It is possible to take a unit that has an emphasis in dance, music practice or technical theatre.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical projects and assignments, including performance.

What can I do next?
On successful completion of the course you will have a qualification equivalent to 4 GCSEs grades A-C. You may wish to go on to study the National Diploma in Performing Arts or a combined programme of A levels and Awards.
