What will I study?
AS:

UNIT 1 Improving performance skills. This is achieved though a series of practical workshops, projects and assessments.

UNIT 2 Planning an event. In this unit you will have the opportunity to work with a team in the organisation of a performance event.

UNIT 3 Performance.

A2:

Studies further develop performance skills and also include an examination of the performing arts industry and the range of careers it offers.

Study Visits
You will be involved in presenting performances in venues outside College as well as performing in our own studio. In addition, there will be visits to see local productions and some visiting practitioners.

Cost
Theatre visits are optional but strongly recommended. The cost is usually no more than £10 per visit.

Assessment
AS:

Units 1 and 2 are assessed by coursework portfolio there are no written exams.

Unit 3 is assessed by a practical examination.

A2:

Units 4 and 5/6 are assessed by coursework portfolio there are no written exams.

Unit 7 is assessed by a practical examination.

At both AS and A2 level work is internally assessed and externally moderated.

Useful supporting courses
This course links very well with all other subjects, particularly Music, Music Technology, Media Studies, English Language and English Literature amd is an excellent broad preparation for further study and careers in the performing arts.

It is also an excellent support course for students who wish to follow a career that requires excellent communication and presentation skills.
