Course Details

Basic food preparation and service skills including: Knife skills Preparation of starters Hot and cold snacks and sandwiches Vegetables and fruit Basic sauces and soups Basic meat and poultry dishes Hot and cold desserts, pastries, cakes, biscuits and scones Restaurant table preparation Greeting and seating of customers, taking food orders Service of food Service of beverages Food safety regulations In addition students will develop a wide range of life skills including: Communication skills Number skills Working with others Successful students will receive an Open College Network Certificate.

Qualifications required:
No formal entry qualifications are required for this course. The course is designed for those seeking to develop basic skills for application in the workplace. It is particularly suitable for mature applicants, including those with learning difficulties that require a high degree of tutor support. Applicants should be able to travel to college independently.
