What will I study?
Throughout the course you will develop your understanding of the public services and apply this knowledge through practical projects and assignments.
You will take 6 core units:
- Team Leadership in Public Services
- Citizenship and Society
- Diversity in Public Services
- Government Politics and Public Services
- Team Development in Public Services
- Understanding discipline within the Public Services
You will also take 12 specialist units from a list including:
- Physical Preparation and Fitness for the Uniformed Services
- Criminal Law in Public Services
- Training for sports
- Skills for water-based activities
- Planning for major incidents
- Command and control in Public Services
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continuously through a variety of practical projects and written assignments and will be expected to show leadership qualities in practical situations. Attendance on residentials and outdoor drips is essential for assessments to take place.
What can I do next?
This course is designed to give you the essential skills for a future within the broad range of the Uniformed Public Services, and also develops skills that are transferable to other progression routes.
You may choose to go on to further study or apply for entry to the Police, Ambulance Service, Prison, Fire and Rescue Services, Security Services and the Armed Forces.
