Is this course for you
A Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure will give you the skills you need for either university or work, and is a first step towards a career in this industry. It could lead you to a university degree in sports science, sports management or physiotherapy, or food science. It could also lead to a job with training as a senior play worker, personal trainer, head grounds keeper or youth support worker. However, it doesn't mean you have to choose a career in this industry, as a Diploma teaches a mix of subjects, it will give you the skills that will be welcomed by colleges, universities and employers, no matter what you choose to do. What is it worth? There are three levels of Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure. The Foundation Diploma equates to 5 GCSEs at grades D-G. The Higher Diploma equates to 7 GCSEs at grades A-C and the Advanced Diploma is the equivalent to 3.5 A levels. How will it work? You will have the opportunity to study something fun and stimulating outside the classroom as well as in it by mixing up your classroom time between college, local schools, a local business or even employers in the classroom. Is it for you? If you are keen to get into the sport and active leisure industry or even if you simply want to learn in a more practical way, then a Diploma is a good option for you. How is it structured? You will be able to get the English, Maths and ICT knowledge you need, and be able to develop the skills you need in the work place by gaining 'hands on' experience. So what makes it so different? Diploma topics are related to broad industry areas, they are not based on subject areas like Geography or History. With the Diploma you can study a GCSE or A Level in a completely different subject or one that complements your Diploma such as a Language or Biology. Q: Can I still be a part of the Fitness Academy or trial for the Football Development Centre? A: Of course. This is exactly the way the Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure is designed to work.
