Introduction
The course is designed for anyone who wishes to pursue a career in football coaching. It is an introductory course that provides students with the basic practical and interpersonal skills required to work as a coach. In addition it will provide students with the theoretical knowledge that a coach requires to work effectively.

Description
The course combines the practical study of sport with the theory that underpins sporting performance. You will study the following subjects: *Help to set up equipment *Help to maintain facilities *Customer Service *Help to plan a session *Lead an activity *Deal with accidents and emergencies In addition you will study, safe and ethical football, football basics and delivering football-coaching sessions to young people. In addition to these coaching specific modules you will have the opportunity to develop your interpersonal skills through study in areas such as, communication, maths, information technology and your ability to work as a member of a team.

Method of Study
You will study through a series of lectures and practical sessions using facilities at College and other sports environment. You will be required to complete written work and take part in the delivery of practical coaching sessions. Assessment is in the form of a portfolio of evidence and demonstration of successful coaching.

Progression
On successful completion of the course you can look forward to a job in the leisure or sports industry working as a coach. You can also go on to higher-level courses such as the NVQ Level 2 Activity Leadership or Gym Instruction.
