Summary:

This is an excellent course for those interested in media make-up. It is an intensive course which will provide you with a thorough training in all aspects of media make-up, together with relevant studies in hair design and photography.

The course is suitable for anyone interested in a career within TV, Film, Photographic Pop Videos, Cat Walk Shows, Special Effects, Casualty Simulation, Employment as Freelance.

The end qualifications you will receive are:

VTCT - Level 3 Theatrical & Media Make-Up Diploma
VTCT - Level 2 Certificate in Cosmetic Make-Up

Course Length:
One Year
Course Schedule:
3 Days a week. All classes will have at least one 6pm finish
Entry Requirements:

Entry is by a selection interview process. All applicants are required to have already achieved either NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy or NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing.

You will need to be self-motivated and enthusiastic; have a willingness to reflect industry requirements for dress code, attitude and customer care standards; and have a mature attitude and a willingness to learn. The course is condensed, you will need to practise techniques at home.

Core Skills:
The course is made up of five modules: Theatrical and Media Make-Up Diploma, Fitting and Maintaining Wigs, Fashion and Photographic Make-Up, Cosmetic Make-Up and Hair Design.

Assessment:
Assessments are done throughout the year both in theory and practical. Practical assessments must be done on paying clients or in a realistic environment eg theatre, fashion show, photographic studios.

Theory assessments are in the form of end of unit written tests, assignments and presentations.

Academic Progression:
NVQ level 3 Beauty Therapy, providing there is evidence of work experience and a willingness to adhere to industry dress code for Beauty Therapy standards.

Career Progression:
Successful completion of the course can lead to employment opportunities in media make-up, magazines, video, theatre, film and television.

Further kit items maybe required throughout the course (inexpensive items such as paint brushes, hair pins, tape measure).

A camera would also be beneficial to build up your portfolio.

Kits will need to be paid for and ordered before the start date of the programme.
