Each unit is taught separately using a variety of methods e.g. case studies, group work, individual tasks, presentations, videos, discussion and visits. There will be regular tutorials to check progress and identify any problem areas. Some tutorials will be on a one-to-one basis (one tutor, one student), and some will be with the group as a whole. Learning Support is available to those who feel they need assistance with written work (grammar, report writing, essay writing, etc).
Alongside the Travel and Tourism course, we will be developing the following Functional Skills:
  • IT
  • Communication
  • Application of Number
In addition to their main programme learning, students will study Functional Skills which are an essential component of the course. This involves producing a small portfolio of work (usually related to your coursework) and sitting a multi-choice test.

Assessment/Exams
The course is assessed through a programme of assignments which use a variety of assessment methods which may take many different forms e.g. written work, presentations, discussions, meetings. The students work is then presented to the examination board through a Portfolio of Evidence and a final grade is awarded.

Progression/Career Path
On completion of a National Certificate, students can obtain work in the Travel and Tourism industry in careers such as Tour Operators, Airlines, Cruise Lines or Travel Agents. They can also move on to Higher Education which could include either a Foundation Degree or Degree.
