Housekeeping NVQ Level 2

Overview

Level 2 Housekeeping NVQ has been developed from the National Occupational Standards produced by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for the hospitality, leisure travel and tourism industries and is designed for people who are involved in housekeeping as their primary work activity and wish to receive recognition for their Housekeeping skills and experience.

To achieve a full certificate in Housekeeping NVQ you are required to complete the 4 mandatory
units plus 4 optional units.

Outline Programme

The course covers the following syllabus:

MANDATORY UNITS:

All candidates must complete the following four units:

  • UNIT 22 (1GEN1) Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
  • UNIT 25 (1GEN 4) Contribute to effective teamwork (CfA)
  • UNIT 91 (2HK1) Clean and service a range of areas
  • UNIT 92 (2HK2) Work using different chemicals and equipment

OPTIONAL UNITS:

The candidate must complete four of the following units

  • UNIT 93 (2HK3) Maintain housekeeping supplies
  • UNIT 94 (2HK4) Clean and protect floors (CSSNTO)
  • UNIT 95 (2HK5) Clean carpets and soft furnishings (CSSNTO)
  • UNIT 96 (2HK6) Provide a linen service
  • UNIT 97 (2HK7) Carry out periodic room servicing and deep cleaning
  • UNIT 40 (1R8) Prepare, service and clear meeting and conference rooms
  • UNIT 28 (1HK1) Collect linen and make beds
  • UNIT 29 (1HK2) Clean windows from the inside
  • UNIT 87 (2GEN1) Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation (ICS)

Qualification and Examination Information

Designed for: Those working in an Hotel environment with responsibility for servicing a range of customer areas
Course duration: Assessment time can vary depending on the learners previous experience and their job role
Assessment method: Assessments are carried out in the workplace against nationally recognised criteria. At the end of each unit the learner is expected to pass a knowledge test under exam conditions.
