Course Description
This one year course is the ideal advanced progression route from the Level 2 Diploma in Complementary Therapies or Beauty Therapy and provides the necessary skills and knowledge to enter employment in the holistic therapy industry.

Work experience forms a large part of this course and you will set up a placement before you begin the course. Previous students have attended holistic and beauty salons, spas, health clubs, hypnotherapists, homeopaths, physiotherapy within the NHS or private and acupuncturists.

You are continuously assessed from the first week of your course by the subject tutor. You will carry out case study treatments which currently stand at a minimum of 30 treatments for body massage, 60 treatments for aromatherapy and 100 treatments for reflexology plus others for facials etc. You will have a number of assignments and tasks to complete to show evidence of understanding the theory and concepts behind the therapies that you are training in. You will also have to take independent examinations in anatomy and complementary therapies.

You will provide treatments and talks for the community and you will therefore require a CRB check as you will attend local schools and drop-in centres on a weekly basis. You will be expected to pay for a uniform and kit.

After five years industrial experience you have the option to teach with current teaching qualiïfication.

Work experience forms a large part of this course and you should have this set up before you begin the course. Previous students have attended complementary and beauty salons, spas, health clubs, hypnotherapists, homeopaths, physiotherapy within the NHS or private, acupuncturists.

Assessment
Assessment for this course is continual. You are assessed from the first week of your course by the subject tutor. (you are required to carry out mandatory case study hours for each of the therapies that you are studying). You will need to have a minimum of eight people who can attend the salon as clients during college hours. These clients will pay a nominal charge for treatments.
