Course Content
This Level 2 course is an introduction to horse and stable management for those wishing to pursue a career with horses. It aims to provide a breadth of knowledge relating to horses, the equine industry and the business skills relevant to that industry. Students spend one week in two on the college's competition yard which is also a BHS examination centre. The yard has a variety of well-schooled horses which are used for instruction in dressage and show-jumping. Students have the opportunity to participate in competitions hosted by the college and to receive instruction for BHS examinations from BHS instructors and examiners.The course includes a compulsory work experience unit which involves 1 week's work experience per term at a suitable equine establishment

Career Prospects and Progression
Students who successfully complete this course at merit or above may progress to the Advanced National Certificate Horse Management or to full or part time BHS training. There is an increasing demand for people with good practical skills to work in stable yards, stud work and racing .

Assessment is by means of assignments, practical assessments and external on-line multi-choice test.
