Course programme

Come along and learn to make lovely jewellery using glass! Be warned this is a very addictive technique - with fantastic colours, low costs and great results. You will not be disappointed and this course is suitable for complete beginners.

Techniques covered in this class include:
- Basic glass cutting techniques.
- Basic principles of tack-fusing and full-fusing.
- Using frits and stringers
- Creating bubbles in glass
- The health and safety aspects of working with glass
- Firing glass
And much more.

Following an introduction to working with glass, our expert tutor for this class will guide you through a series of projects designed to cover a full range of techniques and skills. You will have the chance to experiment and try our different colours, shapes and sizes etc.. and your pieces will be fired in a kiln ready for you to take home at the end of the day. There is lots of flexibility in terms of what you make and you will leave at the end of the day with 5-6 pieces of finished glass pieces which could be made into pendants, earrings, broaches, rings or cuff links - almost anything you can think of.

We will also provide you with plenty of information on how to carry on making glass jeweller after the class, either as a hobby or for a creative business idea. This will include information on where you can buy supplies, access to kilns and much more. Glass is a great material to work with; it is colourful and affordable and can be used in combination with other materials such as metal clay to make beautiful combined pieces.

What you need to bring to this class: For this class you don't need to bring anything but yourself as everything is provided. However if you have any ideas of what you would like to make, feel free to bring pictures, sketches and ideas.

General Info: As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea coffee and luxury biscuits! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The size of the classes is kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one attention and the maximum number of students for this class is 7.

We take an hour break for lunch and there are plenty of local shops to get food from, or you can always bring a packed lunch to eat in the studio. If you have any questions regarding this, or other courses please don't hesitate to get in touch.
