Course Aims:
To develop an understanding of spoken and written foreign language in a range of contexts.
Develop the ability to communicate effectively.
Develop a knowledge and understanding of the grammar of the language and the ability to apply it.

To develop positive attitudes to learning and provide a foundation for further study and practical use.
Course Content:
With an emphasis on communication and the practical application of language skills, the following topics are studied
Personal identity, including family, hobbies, home environment and routine.
Travel, tourism, holidays and services, including transport and shopping.
Home life, healthy living, work and leisure. Relationships, environment education and careers. Topics will be studied through course books and information provided by the teacher, from newspaper and magazine articles ,TV, video, radio and on-line resources.
Progression:
From this level it is possible to progress to a MOCN Level 3 Unit or to AS/A2 Advanced study.

Exam:
The skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening are tested, at either Foundation or Higher Level, in tests at the end of year.
As an alternative to the written paper, it is possible to write three pieces of coursework.
