The programme has been designed to enable learners to study for, and to take either the ‘Foundation’ or ‘Higher’ tier paper. The course covers the following areas:
Mathematics classes will be held in a dedicated maths classroom. Use of computers and specialist software is available to aid your studies. Learning support may be available to students and will be assessed by the course Tutor.
As well as dedicated class time, students are required to complete a significant amount of self-study. Applicants should note that there is an 80% minimum attendance requirement for this course.
Students take the GCSE examination in June. It is externally assessed by Edexcel.
Success in GCSE Mathematics will enable you to progress to study at a higher level in this and related subjects. A pass at grade C or above is a requirement for entry to the College’s ACCESS to Higher Education programme, and for admission to the great majority of university courses.
