Geography
You will get the opportunity to do exciting field trip work that will support your studies. Geography combines well with most other subject areas from science to humanities.

What will I study?
In the first year you will study two modules:
· Global challenges. You will learn why the world is at risk from global hazards, climate changes and changes in industry.
· Geographical investigations. You will learn, through classroom activities and fieldwork, about extreme weather, problems at the coast and how places like Manchester and London are changing.
In the second year you will study two modules:
· The contested planet. You will look at why some people have too much food and others starve, water wars, why coral reefs are under threat, why some countries are rich with a high quality of life whilst others suffer from poverty, disease and starvation.
· Geographical research. You will choose one topic from the following list: tectonic activity and hazards; cold environments; life on the margins; the world of cultural diversity; pollution and human health at risk; consuming the rural landscape.

How is the course assessed?
AS-Level: Two exams.
A2-Level: Two exams.

What enrichment will there be?
Activities include:
· Fieldtrips.
· Hazards conference.

What could I do next?
You can study geography at university or choose from many different types of courses, particularly in the arts, humanities and social sciences. You can also combine it with other subjects at degree level, or do a vocational subject such as planning, surveying or environmental management.
If you want a career related to geography there are many, including archaeologist, site researcher, park or wildlife ranger, ecologist, teacher, weather forecaster, surveyor andvulcanologist.
