This course will give you an introduction to working in the food service / restaurant industry. You will complete two units as part of this course:
Principles of Preparing and Serving Wines (know how to prepare service areas, equipment and stock for wine service / know how to promote and serve wines to meet relevant legislation and customer needs / know how to present and serve wine to meet relevant legislation and customer needs.)
Principles of Customer Service in Hospitality Leisure Travel and Tourism (understand the importance to the organisation in providing excellent customer service in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries / understand the role of the individual in delivering customer service in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries / understand the importance of customers’ needs and expectations in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries.)

Course programme
The course is delivered and assessed at the Tycoch campus, in the Vanilla Pod training restaurant. Assessment methods will include practical observations and assessments, role play, discussions, short tests and theory lessons.
Throughout the course, you will complete a portfolio of evidence, which will be submitted to the external verifiers for moderation.
You could progress onto a full time course or you may choose to complete another short course, as a natural progression.
You must have a keen interest to work in the restaurant industry. You may be working in the industry and feel the need to improve your skills. You will need to attend an informal interview / guidance session, prior to enrolling.
