You will learn to handle watercolour both on wet paper and dry. You will explore colour mixing and washes using landscape, still-life and portraiture as subject matter. You will be required to create a portfolio of your work accompanied by written reflective commentary.

About this course
Learners who are new to art and would like to explore watercolour painting in order to gain confidence with the medium.
No previous experience with painting or drawing is required, but you should be dexterous (able to hold and use equipment).

How will I learn?
Through demonstration and one-to-one tutoring you will undertake exercises and create finished works of art.
How will my progress be monitored and assessed?
You will be continually monitored and assessed by your tutor and you will produce a portfolio of artwork.
Progression opportunities
You can progress onto arts courses in a choice of subjects. Your tutor will be able to give you advice and guidance.
What equipment or materials will I need to provide?
You will need to bring the following to your first session:
Watercolour palette
Water pot
Watercolour brush - round headed brush, size 12
Watercolour paper - your tutor will advise you on the different types of watercolour paper at the start of the course
Tube of blue paint - you choose the shade
Your tutor will advise you further on materials during the first session. Costs for materials for the duration of the course will be approximately £50.
