You'll learn management skills specific to golf facilities, as well as the biological management of the course itself through modules on soil science and plant protection. This course is available by Distance Learning for greenkeepers and course managers in full or part-time employment who would like to continue their studies but are unable to attend college.

The course combines classroom based activities, with visits to a range of golf courses, sports turf events and input from visiting industry professionals. The course finishes in June to allow students to progress into employment at the start of the key recruitment period within the sector.

How Will I LearnThe course is delivered over 34 weeks. Classroom based theory activities are combined with golf course visits, work experience at tournaments including the Dunhill links Championship. There is also a day per week at Elmwood Campus Golf Course for students who wish to improve their practical skills on a wide range of modern equipment.
Distance Learning
This course is delivered through the provision of online distance learning materials. No attendance is required at college. The HND is delivered over 6 years. Because of this, it is more typical for students to initially register for the HNC (the first 3 years of the course), and once that is successfully completed, apply for advanced entry onto the HND (to complete the final 3 years). Those holding a HNC who wish to top up to HND must apply within 5 years of completing their HNC qualification.
Progression OpportunitiesOn successful completion of the course, students articulate on to recognised Degree programmes including BA Golf Tourism at The University of Abertay, Dundee. The award can also lead to management opportunities on golf courses both at home and abroad.
