2. Course description In year one you'll be encouraged to be innovative, exploring ideas that have strong historical and contextual foundations within graphic design. You'll examine the core values of the design process through a range of disciplines. Year one modules include: · ideas generation and exploration · visual studies · design process · digital applications · historical and contemporary studies · professional practice Year two will challenge you with design problems that have more limits attached, resulting in more realistic outcomes. You'll be more critically aware of your project work and the work of your fellow students, and you'll be expected to work more professionally to prepare for the working environment. Your project briefs will be linked with industry and developed through advanced studio practice where you'll begin to focus on your chosen pathway of advertising. In year two you'll study these core modules:  · professional practice · critical studies · ideas in context and these pathway modules: · advanced studio practice (advertising) · final major project proposal (advertising) · final major project resolution (advertising)  On this pathway, you will explore the uses of advertising through campaigns, point of sale, copywriting and art direction.  The course will culminate in the proposition and execution of your own brief through a final major project displayed at the end of year show.

3. Entry requirements You will need a minimum of 48 points on the new UCAS tariff (120 on the old tariff) from the following: • Diploma in Foundation Studies Art & Design  • At least two A Levels at A2, with one in an Art & Design subject area  • BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in an Art, Design or Media-related subject  • Progression Diploma with relevant Principal Learning  • Advanced Diploma with relevant Principal or Additional Specialist Learning (ASL)  Mature students with relevant experience and/or qualifications, including an Access to HE Diploma within a relevant subject area, are welcome to apply.    You will be expected to submit a digital portfolio with examples of research, development and written work. You will be offered the opportunity to visit the College and discuss the foundation degree in more detail with the course leader after a successful application and submission process. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Your work will be assessed on a continuous basis through weekly progress reviews, tutorials and assessment periods which take place three times a year.
