Course programme
Covering type, layout and branding, this course will help you build your graphic design work into an impactful portfolio for further study. Based upon LCC’s extensive expertise in graphic design education it covers graphic context and practice, and the application of one to the other. It is perfect for you if you already have a body of work and want to select and edit it to showcase your vision and skills.
Through a series of tutor-led discussions and visits, you will deepen your understanding of the foundations of graphic design. You will apply this knowledge and develop your existing design skills through practical workshops. We will cover ways to communicate elements in your work that are not solely focused on finished work, by covering ways of presenting your research, ideas and analysis. This is not a computer software course but rather reflects the studio-based and idea generation nature of graphic
It is expected that by the end of the course you have built upon work you already have and produced fresh new work. You will receive guidance in putting together roughs, ideas and experimentations that lead up to your final designs.
Please note this course is suitable for you if you are applying for BA or MA study at LCC, but does not guarantee entry.

This course is suitable for you if you have a body of graphic design work you wish to develop and edit into a portfolio for work or education.
Level
Intermediate: You should have a body of graphic design to bring with you, and some understanding of the fundamentals of design theory.
