Students will be introduced to the exciting field of type design, exploring some of the challenges that typographers face. They will investigate the difference between seeing type and reading it, helping them to develop their appreciation for both functional and expressive letterforms.Course projects will require students to identify a typeface by its defining characteristics, and choose the right "face" and applying it creatively.

- create, modify and manipulate the design of type to enhance design and readability
- Understand what makes good typographic design when applying digital design processes and techniques in creating and modifying typography
- Create and use a range of textual and typographic elements effectively in a digital design format.
