About this course

You must have NVQ level 1 Hairdressing and, preferably, at least GCSE grade E in both Maths and English.
You will need to purchase a uniform for Approx £58, and wear low heeled fully enclosed shoes. You will also need to purchase a kit costing approximately £147 to use on the course. (Order forms are available from College.)

About the Course
Unit G20 provides you with further understanding of your responsibilities concerning health, safety and security in the salon.
Unit G4 will provide you with the skills to enable you to manage the reception area of â€-Alpha Hair†â€" overseeing the greeting of clients, dealing with clients†queries and ensuring that stylists are aware of clients†arrival.
Unit G17 teaches you how to give clients a positive impression of yourself and your employer as well as dealing with clients and their individual needs.
Unit G7 teaches you how to build a rapport with clients and to advise on the correct choice of style, colour, perm or treatment.
Unit GH8 enables you to select appropriate shampoos and conditioners to match the clients†hair type or treatment being carried out.
Unit GH9 teaches you how to change hair colour using a variety of basic techniques incorporating products such as mousses, creams and gels.
Unit GH10 teaches styling skills you need to meet the clients†needs.
Unit GH11 teaches you how to set and dress the hair
Unit GH12 teaches you the skills of basic cutting to create a variety of styles and fashion cuts.
Unit GH14 teaches you the art of perming, using basic techniques to produce a variety of curl types.
You will also learn the relevant science behind the treatments as well as structure of the hair and skin.
While on this course you will have the opportunity to participate in the College†s Festival of Colour competition.

Written by set assignment, tasks and client studies, plus an on line examination for each unit.

No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
This course can lead you to employment in a working salon, or progression to NVQ level 3 Hairdressing whilst participating in the daily routine of a salon environment.
