Hairdressing is an exciting business and there are so many different opportunities. The NVQ 2 in Hairdressing is the industry accepted minimum qualification for a Junior Hairdresser and is aimed at those wishing to train as a stylist and become a competent hairdresser.

Course Length
1 year (Full-time) or (Part-time).

What will I study?
The full NVQ Level 2 award in Hairdressing comprises of 8 mandatory, 2 optional units and Key Skills.

    A clean black short sleeved tunic and black trousers. Black flat heeled closed toe shoes. No Jewellery (including facial jewellery) allowed, short nails essential. Order forms will be given on enrolment.

    How will I learn?
    You will learn in state-of-the-art treatment rooms and salons, using industry standard equipment and high quality products. Have access to the latest online learning materials delivered using Smartboards and Plasma screen TVs.

    The course will be taught using a variety of approaches. These include; practical work, directed learning, independent stsudy and tutorials.

    How will I be assessed?
    Units are assessed throughout the course. Practical work is assessed through performance and oral questions. Theoretical knowledge is covered by written questions assignments and portfolio.

    Where could it lead?
    Progression to Hairdressing Diploma Level 3 or NVQ Level 3, or other aspects of the Hairdressing industry. Opportunities are also available for hairdressers working for various cruise operators and airlines.
