Common addictions are to alcohol or drugs, but it is possible to become addicted to anything, from gambling to chocolate. The course will look at the common addictions, some of the causes and the support available for staff, parents, carers or friends. During this session.

Course Overview
Addiction is not having control over doing, taking or using something, to the point that it can have harmful consequences. Common addictions are to alcohol or drugs, but it is possible to become addicted to anything, from gambling to chocolate. The course will look at the common addictions, some of the causes and the support available for staff, parents, carers or friends. During this session you will also explore what you can and can't do for someone suffering from an addiction.
Course Structure
Venue: Thanet College Professional Development Centre (upstairs in OLRC / Library).
Mode of Attendance: 3 hour session
Qualification Aims
A basic understanding of addictions.

The session has no assessment.
There will be an attendance certificate on completion of the session.
