The Wheel of Life The Wheel of Life is a powerful tool because it gives you a vivid visual representation of the way your life is currently, compared with the way you'd ideally like it to be.It’s called the "Wheel of Life" because each area of your life is mapped on a circle, like the spokes of a wheel. As a starting point for creating happiness and success in your life, the Wheel of Life is the perfect tool to outline where to start this journey and what areas to look at first. You can then utilize this exercise to further delve into why your wheel of life looks the way it does, what you would like your wheel of life to look like, and how to make this happen. Your Mission Statement Your personal Mission Statement will help you stay in touch with what matters in your life. You will see that when you feel content with a decision or action, you are acting from your core values and vice versa. You will never compromise your core values if you are clear about your mission statement and have it in the forefront of your mind. Your Plan Set goals and objectives. They will give you a sense of purpose, a reason to get up in the morning. Goals and objectives will bring meaning to everything you do. They will give you desire and motivation to take firm decisive and consistent action. When you set well-defined goals and objectives you will recognize all the opportunities along the way for reaching these objectives. The Structure You need structure so that you are supported in every area of your life. Prioritise, delegate, multi-task and make the best use of your time. Get more out of what you occupy yourself with. Be master of your own destiny and engage fully in everything you do. Every day new challenges, new tasks, new issues arise. They can be opportunities to increase the pace of your progress towards your goals. Looking Good, Feeling Good This module is about how the way you look, affects the way you feel. Think about a time in your life when you felt great about yourself. Think of how you looked and what you were thinking. What were others saying about you and how positive was your mindset? Life seems less intimidating, a little friendlier and a bit easier to deal with when you feel positive about yourself. How effective and happy do you think you would be if you felt this good all the time? As with everything else in life, looking and feeling good requires a little thought and effort. Is it affecting your plans? Is how you look suitable to the areas you want to achieve your goals in? How you look and what you wear can have such a dramatic influence on your confidence levels. Your confidence levels have such an important bearing on everything you do in life. Creating Positive Anchors Anchoring is an instant way to change your mood and to lift your confidence Anchoring is a method that uses the close association between the mental process and the physical reaction to control the way you perform and feel in various situations. Anchoring works by creating a physical trigger which is linked to a stored positive emotion which you can fire at any time. Taking Care of Yourself Are you making exercise and healthy eating part of your daily routine? To have the energy you need, to fulfil the plans for success you have made, are you maintaining a reasonable standard of fitness at all times? In our busy lives, taking care of ourselves, is seen as something extra, something you can do if you have time. It is usually not part of your everyday life and is not part of your time after work either. However, your health and well-being should be at the top of the priority list, not at the bottom. • Managing your Emotions Emotional exchanges hold the communication process together. To communicate in a way that grabs or engages others, you have to be able to access your emotions and recognize how they influence your actions and relationships. Emotions may be distorted, numbed, or buried – especially if you’ve experienced early-life traumas such as loss, isolation, or abuse. Without emotional awareness, we are unable to fully understand our own motivations and needs, or to communicate effectively with others. Communicating Non-Verbally The most powerful forms of communication contain no words, and it takes place at a much faster rate than speech. Using nonverbal communication is the way to attract other’s attention and keep relationships on track. Eye contact, facial expression, tone of voice, posture, gesture, touch, intensity, timing, pace, and sounds that convey understanding, engage the brain and influence others much more than your words alone. The way we talk, listen, look, and move will produce a sense of interest, trust, excitement and desire for connection – or they will generate fear, confusion, distrust and disinterest. Using Humour and Play Playfulness and humour help you navigate and rise above difficult and embarrassing issues. Mutually shared positive experiences also uplift you. They help you find inner resources needed to cope with disappointment and heartbreak, and give you the will to maintain a positive connection to your work and your loved ones. Using playful communication in your relationships helps you to take hardships in your stride. By allowing you to view your frustrations and disappointments from new perspectives, laughter and play enable you to survive annoyances, hard times, and setbacks. Using gentle humour often helps you to say things that might be Difficult, without creating a bigger issue. Resolving Conflict The way you respond to differences and disagreements in personal and professional relationships, can create hostility and irreparable rifts, or it can initiate the building of safety and trust. Your capacity to take conflict in your stride and to forgive easily is supported by your ability to manage stress, to be emotionally available, to communicate non-verbally, and to laugh easily. Conflict in relationships can be a deal breaker and a heart breaker. Two people can’t possibly always have the same needs, opinions and expectations—and that needn’t be a bad thing! When conflict is resolved in a healthy way, it can be a cornerstone for trust between people. Practical :Life Skills. 15 lectures 03:34:22 Practical Life Skills In this section we will explore:-
