This is an ideal course for anyone who has ever wanted to learn to play the harmonica.
What previous knowledge/experience are required?
No prior experience is required.
What is the level of the course?
This a mixed level course for beginners and intermediate players. This means that you may never have played harmonica before or that you have some experience.
What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?
Learning outcomes (Students will be able to) : - learn basic tablature, - rhythm techniques, - improvising to 12-bar blues and musical expression
What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?
Demonstrations, lectures and individual exercises.
How will we assess your progress on the course?
Your work will be assessed by on a continual basis by your tutor and at the end of the course through assessment.
What type of qualification will passing this course give me?
A Working Men's College Certificate.
What extra study/practice do we expect you to do outside the class?
Students are expected to practice weekly.
What can I do after completing this course?
Students can progress to the Learning to Play the Blues beginner's class, the songwriting class, and the Music theory level 1 class. Some students may progress to public peformance.
Are there any other costs? (e.g. materials, equipment or books I need to buy before or during the course)
A diatonic harmonica in the key of C (not a chromatic harmonica). A pen and paper.
Are there any other requirements?
You are required to attend every lesson on time.
