Birkbeck's MSc Health and Clinical Psychological Sciences is designed for graduates with a background in psychology, neuroscience or health sciences, who want to deepen their understanding of cutting-edge contemporary research in health (including health psychology, applied neuroscience and neuropsychology) and the factors contributing to physical and mental health outcomes.
The course will deepen your understanding of the methods and insights of contemporary health and clinical psychological sciences, including applied neuroscience. You will develop your generic research skills, learn advanced quantitative and qualitative methods, and study how best to design and evaluate interventions.
The emphasis is on mixed-method approaches and we will support you in developing a cross-disciplinary approach to appraising research and carrying out an independent research project.
On the MSc, you conduct a research dissertation within an area of contemporary psychology, which includes a literature review, formulating a research question, designing and running a study to address your research question, analysing the study’s results and presenting your study in a formal report.
