On successful completion of the Foundation Degree, you will have gained the appropriate skills and experience to forge a successful career within the Health and Fitness industry. You can also apply for one year top-up course at Northampton University to gain a full Degree in Sport and Exercise Science (Level 6). Course programme
Physiological function and response, exercise nutrition and fitness training methods are just some of the modules you will study in depth on this course. You can expect to dive into the psychology of individuals and groups in sport and exercise, the concepts of health, and the link between nutrition and non-communicable disease. You can expect a mixture of face-to-face and online learning, with required hours of work placements. You will have use of the MK Personal Training Studio for you to practice with personal clients, as well as 50% discount on Fitness Instructing and Personal Training qualifications.
As well as workplace training and expert tutoring, you will be exposed to the industry through a variety of trips, activities and visits. These include:
- Lab sessions at University of Northampton: In year 2 you will head to the sports science labs over at UoN for lactate testing and Vo2 Max assessments, in order to develop practical application of exercise physiology. This will also give you a chance to experience university life.
- UKSCA: You will visit the UKSCA Foundation Workshop in Strength and Conditioning at St. Mary’s University in Twickenham – find out more!
