What are the main features of this course?
This is a one year full time course. A BTEC First Diploma is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments and activities that are based on realistic workplace situations. The course enables you to explore a wide range of health and social care careers and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification. Some of the subjects covered on this course are:

How is the course assessed?
There are no formal examinations. Assessment is via assignments, completion of coursework and attending work placement for a period of 60 hours

Who should study this course?
This course is suitable for students who are interested in a career in the Health and Social care sector but who may be unsure of the sector they wish to work in. This course gives students an overview of all aspects of health and social care. Anyone wishing to enrol on this course should have a minimum of three grade E's at GCSE in subjects which reflect a good command of English. Mature students are welcome and your previous experience, references and employment will be taken into consideration when you apply.

Where can I go next?
On successful completion of the BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care and with three merit grades progression is possible onto the BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care and the BTEC National Diploma in Children's Care Learning and Development
