2. Course description Are you passionate about looking after others? Would you like to get paid to care for those who need your help? Do you want to make a difference to the lives of people around you? If this sounds like you, then this Level 1 Diploma in Health and Social Care is perfect. On this BTEC Level 1 course, you'll begin to learn all about health and social care, and will get a good, wide introduction into the industry. You'll focus on the role of the carer, exploring all their responsibilities, discovering the different needs of others, and understanding the types of jobs in this industry. You will also get to look more closely at personal care, and learn how to creative activities and learning experiences for both children and adults. Part of the course will even cover how to promote healthy eating and how to communicate effectively with others. During your time with us, you'll also develop your knowledge and abilities in English and Maths by attending our Functional Skills classes. This will help prepare you for a future career and give you the qualifications you need to advance onto the Level 2 Health and Social Care course.

3. Entry requirements IYou don't need any formal qualifications if you'd like to enrol on this course with us. It has been designed for those who are leaving school and working at the equivalent of GCSE grades D-F, but we welcome anyone who has a positive attitude and a desire to learn. We will ask all applicants to come and visit us for an interview, and possibly complete an online English and Maths test before offering you a place. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Throughout this course, you'll be assessed in a number of different ways to test what you are learning and challenge your abilities. This will include observations and discussions; the creation of posters, PowerPoint presentations, booklets and leaflets; written assessments; and question & answer sessions.
