The Apprenticeship Framework covers the technical skills and knowledge in the Level 2 QCF Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science. You will undertake a range of roles within the Pharmacy, including the sale of over-the-counter medicines, the provision of information to customers on symptoms and products, prescription receipt and collection, assembly of prescribed items and ordering, receiving and storing pharmaceutical stock.
To be eligible for this course you will need to be in relevant employment.
There are specific entry requirements for this course but we ask that you:
- have an excellent attitude to work and study
- are mature, responsible and safe behaviour
- have commitment to study and work
The assessment of your apprenticeship is an ongoing process throughout the year. You will have a number of specific skills and experience that you must get marked off by your employer or college tutor to prove that you reached a certain level of understanding. At the College you will be assessed by doing written work and assignments which go towards your formal qualification. At the work place you will be assessed by your supervisor on day to day activities basis for your practical assessment.
The NHS Workforce Review indicates that the demand for Pharmacy Technicians and qualified pharmacy support staff is likely to increase across the NHS.
The Pharmacy Services Apprenticeship is an excellent choice for you if you want to start a career as a Dispensing and Pharmacy Assistant.
