Somerset Skills & Learning CIC is pleased to offer a series of online courses which are available for employers who need to train their staff. These short structured courses will enable employers to make the work place safer and meet the legal requirements. Stress is not an illness, its a state, but its a state that can contribute to a great many illnesses. In fact more working days are lost due to stress than for any other single reason.

Course programme
The training is made up of short videos that explain each point individually. The learner can answer short questions about each topic as they go, and ends with a multi-choice test. Training is completed in your own time. Learners may do part of the course, log out and then resume at a later date if required.
Section 1: Are You Stressed?
This section is a questionnaire for the delegate to gauge how they are coping with pressures from work and to find out if they need to take any further action like seeing their GP.
Section 2: Fight or Flight
This section gives an understanding of why we react the way we do to pressure and stressful situations. This is to help identify and control their own pressure/stress levels and to help them spot the signs in their colleagues.
Section 3: State of Stress
This section shows how stress affects our bodies and symptoms that stress can cause. This will help the delegate identify their pressure/stress levels and take action if they need to.
Section 4: Stress Factors
This section looks at signs, symptoms and possible causes of stress and what clues to look for in emotional or physical behaviour. This will help delegates identify when there may be a problem developing and what could be causing them stress.
Section 5: Stress Strategies
This section offers constructive advice based on what the delegates feel may be the causes of their pressures at work, for example, poor time management, social integration. This will help them implement positive steps into their routines to combat pressure and prevent stress from occurring.
Test
This is a multiple choice test that demonstrates that the candidate has gained the knowledge and skills they need to set up their workstations and to work safely.
