Duration: 6-9 months depending upon learner's availability and commitment
Date(s): At the learner's place of work, dates and times to suit the learner and employer.

Programme Outline and Content:

8 Work Based Units comprising of 4 Core Units and 4 Optional Units. Learner needs to be undertaking a
Senior Carer/Supervisor role.

Session 1 Induction - Explanation of what an NVQ is and how the qualification is achieved.
Explanation of the different assessment methods surrounding the NVQ. (If unknown)
Completion of Registration & Portfolio Paperwork.

Session 2 1 to 1 Planning session - Completion of Skill Scan paperwork and choosing of Optional
Units. Planning where to start and discussion of 1st unit.. Planning the 1st observation session.
Setting of coursework relevant to unit. Discussion of how observation links in with Core Units.

Session 3 1 to 1 Observation session - Planned Observation carried out and feedback given.
Professional Discussion of learner's knowledge behind observation. Further planning towards
completion of unit. Support and Advice offered.

Session 4 1 to 1 Discussion session - Legislation, Policies and Procedures. Looking at evidence for unit and linking to Legislation, Policies and Procedures. Developing knowledge of Legislation, Policies and Procedures from Textbook and Care Standards. Professional Discussion to gain further evidence for 1st unit and Feedback for coursework
compiled.
Planning session - Planning for next Unit and discussing in detail. Planning next observation. Setting of coursework relevant. Discussion of how observation links with Core Units. Support and Advice offered.

Session 5 1 to 1 Observation session - Planned Observation carried out and feedback given.
Professional Discussion of learner's knowledge behind observation. Further planning towards completion of the unit. Support and Advice offered.

Session 6 1 to 1 Discussion session - Legislation, Policies and Procedures and linking evidence for the unit to them. Developing knowledge from the Textbook and Care Standards.
Professional Discussion to gain further evidence for unit. Feedback for coursework compiled.
Discussion of how Core units have linked all work up to date. Further Planning towards completion of the units. Support and Advice offered.

Session 7 1 to 1 Discussion session - Coursework checked and Feedback given. Planning of observation to show consistency of practise. Planning for rest of Core Units. Discussion of Legislation of a Core Unit involving textbook. Support and Advice offered.

Session 8 1 to 1 Observation session - Planned observation carried out and feedback given. Linking of Observation to Legislation, Policies and Procedures.
Planning session - Planning to cover the remainder of Core Units. Discussion of legislation for a Core unit involving textbook

Session 9 1 to 1 Discussion session - Coursework checked and Feedback given. Coursework linked to Policy and Procedures. Discussion on progress and course completion. Further planning for incomplete units.

Session 10 1 to 1 Discussion session - Coursework checked and Feedback given. Professional Discussion on Knowledge of Practises and Procedures. Feedback on Progress. Planning of final pieces of work needed to complete.

Session 11 1 to 1 session - possible final session. Checking of gaps in portfolio and completing if necessary. Evaluation of what Learner feels that they have achieved from the NVQ. Award Complete.

Training Approach:
All training sessions (except Induction) are on a 1 to 1 basis with Assessor.

Assessment Approach:
To successfully gain NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, learners must be proved competent in all 8
units and produce a portfolio of evidence.

Funding Eligibility:
We have several pots of funding available to help cover costs subject to eligibility.
