2. Course description You will have the opportunity to apply critical analysis and reasoning techniques to solve built environment and engineering problems, using industry standards, appropriate codes of practice and work-based evidence; developing personal and business skills, which will enable you to contribute to the demands of a professional environment. There are three pathways available so you can specialise in Construction & the Built Environment, Building Services Engineering or Civil Engineering. Some of the units covered on the programme depending on the pathway selected include: Sustainable construction; Design and management principles; Energy utilisation and efficiency; Environmental management; Measuring, tendering and estimating; Site surveying; Science and materials; Health, safety and welfare; Applied mathematics; Site surveying procedures; Civil engineering technology; Structural analysis and design; Heating and air conditioning.

Course programme

3. Entry requirements BTEC Extended Diploma, Diploma or Subsidiary Diploma or a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship or 2 A levels grade A*-C. You must be in employment in the field in which you wish to study for a minimum of 30 hours per week. 4. Equipment required You will need to attend sessions one day a week at Highbury College Campus. The rest of the time will be spent learning on the job with your employer. 5. Assessment method You will build a portfolio of work and have on-site visits to observe your ability and skills in your daily role. The Higher Apprenticeship takes between one and three years to complete.
