Study Method:
The Higher Diploma is a level 2 qualification. This recognises good knowledge and understanding of an area of work or a subject area, and to perform varied tasks with some guidance or supervision.
Learning at this level involves building knowledge and/or skills in relation to an area of work or a subject area and is appropriate for many job roles.

Duration :One year
Who the Course is For:
If you are interested in a successful career in IT you will need to work well with people, understand the way business and technology work together, and to be able to bring all these skills together to run effective projects.

Assessment:
Controlled assessment for main principal learning with an exam for one unit. The additional and specialist learning assessment is based on assignments and functional skills assessments are based on external exams for all three areas (English, Maths and ICT)
Course Leads To:
The Diploma in IT will open many doors for you. It can take you all the way to university and beyond. You can go on to do an Apprenticeship or jump straight into the world of work.

Content:
Principal Learning:This covers all you need to know about IT at the level you-re studying. You-ll explore technology, and see the role that it plays in organisations, for individuals and in society as a whole. You-ll also learn how to manage and deliver successful IT projects, and be able to apply what you have learnt when working on your own projects. Plus, how to work well with other people - in teams, with customers and colleagues.
Additional and specialist learning:You specialist courses in IT as part of your Diploma for example web development, computer systems and graphics.
Functional Skills: Like all Diploma students, you-ll develop a good standard of English, maths and ICT. You will need these to get your Diploma qualification and to succeed in any business or learning environment, whether you decide to continue in the IT sector or not.
Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills: These are skills like team-working, creative thinking and self-management. You-ll need them for life, study and work, and they-ll help you to be a success whatever you do in the future.
Work Experience: The Diploma course includes work experience with a combination of working within a company to use the skills you have learnt in the classroom and visits to various organisations to see how they are set up and how they use technology every day to help run their businesses.
Student Project: During your Diploma, you will complete a student project to demonstrate the skills and knowledge that you have learnt. This could be a written piece of work, like a report or an investigation, or it could be a practical piece of work, like a website. You may want to use video, film, a database or another technology to complete your project
