Fee Waiver: If you are studying part-time and are in receipt of a means tested benefit or low income your fees will be waived. Proof of benefit is required and should be brought at time of enrolment. Content:
The Higher Course in Modern Studies develops understanding of the political and social processes operating in the contemporary world. Candidates should extend their knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues and develop skills of evaluating that they may have been introduced to at Standard Grade or in Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2 Modern Studies. The structure of the Course requires candidates to study issues from within the United Kingdom and the wider world over the following units.

. Entry to Intermediate 2 requires Intermediate 1 or Standard Grade 3. . Entry to Higher requires Intermediate 2 (Grade A or B) or Standard Grade (1 or 2) or equivalent. . Guidance staff will be happy to discuss and take into account other learning or experience. . If you intend to resit a subject for which you already hold unit passes, please indicate this on your application form. In some subject areas we may offer exam only classes. . If English is not your first language you will be required to demonstrate English language skills equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
