Course Description
This course, based on a national framework, is designed to provide students with both knowledge and understanding in a range of major Social Science disciplines. In addition students will be assisted to develop analytical skills and practical competence in research methodology, data processing and reporting skills. The first year of the programme equates to the HNC award.

Preferred Entry Requirements
Ideally 1 Higher Grade pass which should demonstrate good communication skills. Alternatively a range of SQA NC modules or NQ units (or equivalent) supported by relevant work experience. Entry by informal interview.

Hours per week: 18 hours

Course Content
An appropriate programme will be prepared drawing on Politics, Sociology, Psychology and History as well as Law, Economics, European Affairs and Research Skills.

As well as leading to employment opportunities in the public and voluntary sectors the course articulates with a number of programmes in Higher Education.
