Introduction:
This course is designed for employed students who wish to develop their technical and professional abilities in Mechatronics. The modules have been selected to ensure that students develop the essential knowledge and skills to work in industry.

Study Mode & Location:
This two year part-time course is studied on a day release basis for one afternoon (Friday) and one evening per week. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent's Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
The HNC comprises eight modules (four will be studied each year). These include:

  • Engineering Science
  • Mathematics for Technology
  • Project
  • Industrial Studies

This course combines mechanical and electrical disciplines.

Assessment:
Assessment is via a combination of assessment methods relevant to the particular module.

This part-time programme has been developed to meet the needs of any industrial position that requires a good understanding of mechanical and electronic engineering. It is ideally suited to modern manufacturing and plant functions. Career progression and professional requirements have influenced the design of the course. Successful students may progress to an HND in Engineering or Engineering Management at Preston College, or to a Degree at the University of Central Lancashire or other universities.
