About this course

Entry requirements: a BTEC National Diploma or 1 GCE A level or VCE A level / Double award or Access to HE Certificate and GCSE English (Grade C) and GCSE Mathematics (Grade C) or equivalent qualifications. Applications from people over 21 without the above qualifications but with relevant experience and or other qualifications are also encouraged. All applicants will be considered on their individual merit and commitment to study. All applicants will be required to attend an interview with a member of the course team and to complete an assessment.

Course Content:
Year 1: Drawing Techniques and Approaches, Visual Communication, Professional Studies, Historical and Contextual Referencing, Garment Manufacture, Clothing Manufacture Production Operations, Pattern Drafting and Production Techniques. Year 2: Techniques and Processes in Fashion, Fashion and Textiles Understanding, Fashion Promotion, Professional Practice and Development, Realising a Fashion Collection, Research and Development in Fashion Design. Units Taught in Both Years: Visual Communication, Historical and Contextual Referencing, Techniques and Processes, Garment Manufacture.

Progression:
Successful students will be able to make an immediate contribution to the work place. Many students progress to university to complete a top up degree in a related subject area.
