In the first year (AS) you will have two main areas of study:
Unit 1: 'Change and Consolidation', currently studying Britain, 1906-1951.
Unit 2: 'Historical Issues; Periods of Change', currently The USA and Vietnam, 1961-1975.
The second year takes you up a step with two more study topics:
Unit 3: 'The State and the People: Change and Continuity', studying Stability and War: Britain, Monarchy and State, 1714-1770.
Unit 4: 'Historical Enquiry', A 100 year period will be selected, an issue will be identified (e.g. war) and an in-depth inquiry will be undertaken.

Course programme

Successful completion of A Level History will enable you to study Law, Philosophy, History and Politics at University. Also, it provides a foundation for further studies in teaching and heritage and is a highly recommended degree subject.
This programme can be combined with other AS/A Levels, or with a vocational programme, such as an Edexcel Diploma, You will achieve the AQA AS/A Level in History.
You will learn in a variety of ways, including demonstrations, skills workshops and formal lessons. Assessment will be a mix of coursework, portfolio and externally set exams.
