Wine reception at 6.30pm,
Lectures 7.00-8.30pm

The story of the nineteenth century is that of revolutionary and radical art movements, such as the Pre-Raphaelites and Courbet’s Realism in France contending with the complacent Academies that were benefiting from a traditional art market.

Led by James Malpas, Course Leader, Styles in Art Semester programme, this course explores the key developments, including Impressionism, Symbolism and Post-Impressionism, that started in France and radiated throughout Europe before the First World War.
