Why Tynemet
The course teaches knowledge and skills which are relevant to continuing professional development in a wide range of occupations and roles. It provides employers with a means of equipping staff with transferable skills in important areas like systems analysis, and quality and project management. At the same time, students learn skills as â€-power users†adding value by applying their skills in areas like database technology, website design and maintenance and computer hardware and operating systems.
Interesting Facts
The course is present in two phases, each lasting a year. The first year is a stand-alone course that results in the award of a Higher National Certificate in Software Development. It can also provide the base for a further years study leading to, the Higher National Diploma in Software Engineering.
Suitability
This course is designed to meet the needs of busy people who wish to extend their knowledge of computing and gain a recognised qualification, but who are unable to attend regular college lectures. Some college attendance is necessary, but the modules are designed so that most of the outcomes can be achieved through work-related activities or distance learning.
