Horses and ponies are popular animals; it is estimated that there are between 600,000 and a million in the UK. Individual horses and ponies vary in size, body shape and temperament. Although their working lives, the period when they can be ridden or driven, may be much shorter, they can live well into their thirties or longer.
This Horse Care and Management Level 2 course has been designed to provide a broad understanding of the principles of equine management. This course focuses on the major principles and practices within modern Horse Care and Management. Anyone owning a horse or looking after a horse is responsible for its' welfare.
A horse will require routine care and a commitment to look after it. This course is for those who wish to further develop and enhance their skills, knowledge and competence in order to progress their career or obtain employment.
Horses and ponies have very complex needs so looking after them well can be challenging. If you own or are responsible for a horse or pony, even on a temporary basis, you are required by law to care for it properly.
