Certificate in Skills for Working Life - Entry Level(2010/2011)
Study Method:
There are seven units of study and you will work towards achieving as many units as possible.
Duration :2 days a week for 2 years.
Who the Course is For:
The course is designed for students with a very limited horticultural and academic background. The course is suitable for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities who wish to acquire the basic skills for employment or further studies in horticulture.
Assessment:
You will be assessed by your tutor who will give you regular feedback on your progress. Assessments will be given throughout the course. These can be through practical tasks, verbal, observation or photographs. If successful, certification is awarded by National Proficiency Test Council.
Course Leads To:
A Certificate in Horticulture
You may wish to investigate paid or voluntary work in either sheltered or open employment. Your tutor will help you plan your progression.
Entry Requirements:
You should be prepared and physically able to work outdoors and have an interest in horticulture. You will also need to be able to understand and follow simple verbal instructions.
Applicants will be asked to attend an interview at the College.

How will I be taught?
Students learn gardening skills and methods. You will practise these skills in a real working environment at the College and off-site.
