Hospitality and Leisure Manpower (HALM) is an international research, training and consulting group, with its head office in London. We employ staff with extensive experience of policy and strategy work and managing collaborative projects. We help many different kinds of business - from larger corporate organisations to independant small and medium sized enterprises - including hotels and accomodation providers; restaurants, pubs and bars; conference centres; catering and food service management companies; leisure centres, theme parks and visitor attractions. We also work extensively with Government Departments, Regional Development Agencies, Tourist Boards, the Learning and Skills Council, Trade Associations and Professional Bodies across the tourism, hospitality and leisure sector.Our work includes research to identify skill needs; the development of the sector’s training and business support infrastructure; the delivery of programmes of benchmarking and business support; the management of a national network of sector specific business coaches and facilitators; the production of open and flexible learning materials based on occupational standards, and the administration of award schemes and competitions.We have developed and manage a number of accreditation schemes. We developed the British Hospitality Association's "ExcellenceThrough People" scheme of accrediting good employment practice, and with the Meetings Industry Association to develop and manage AIM - "Accredited in Meetings". We set up the Best Practice Forum (a Strategic Alliance of ten leading Trade Associations) to drive up productivitiy, quality and competitiveness, and the Hospitality Skills Alliance (with seven Professional Bodies) to increase the quantity and quality of skills training in the sector. The Company currently provides a secretariat service for the European Catering Association, Hospitality Skills and Skills EUROPE. In recent years we have been the recipient of a number of awards which have recognised the Company's competence and capability. Following the reciept of a BTA "Winning Words" Award for language training, the Company won two National Training Awards for work with small firms in the sector.Our strategic work with the London Development Agency has been recognised by a NAICE Business Partnership Award, and the Company received a Partnership at Work Award from the Department of Trade and Industry.
